Who we are

Plia Projects is a cultural agency founded by Daniela Holban, a Romanian curator, cultural strategist, and nonprofit executive recognized for her commitment to public programming, artist development, and thriving creative ecosystems. At Plia Projects, Daniela’s vision bridges contemporary artists with progressive opportunities, empowering them to expand their creative impact and build sustainable practices.

Daniela’s extensive background underpins Plia Projects’ dedication to fostering meaningful artist-client relationships. Previously, as co-founder and Senior Curator of Artfare Inc., Daniela connected professional artists with patrons and collectors, advancing Artfare’s mission to help artists build sustaining relationships independently of galleries. Artfare’s platform enabled artists to collaborate with curators on events and exhibitions, provided tools to enhance their practice, and facilitated direct engagement with collectors.

Recognized as one of Brooklyn Magazine's 50 Most Fascinating People of 2023, Daniela brings her wealth of experience and extensive network to enrich Plia Projects' mission, making art accessible, impactful, and deeply connected to a wide range of communities. She has previously worked with institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MANA Contemporary, NOoSPHERE Arts, {CTS} Creative Thriftshop, William Bennet Gallery, The Ear Classical, and The Fashion and Textile Museum in London. Her extensive network includes partnerships with organizations like The High Line, New Museum’s NEW INC, NADA, NARS, Residency Unlimited, CalArts, BRIC, The Brooklyn Rail, ILAP, CreateART, gener8tor Art, Brooklyn Arts Council, Paradice Palase, Broadway Stages, Newtown Creek Alliance, Kingsland Wildflowers, Open House New York, Bloomberg Connects, Art Dialogues Magazine, Showfields, and Moleskine.
